Jet2 Unveils 17 New Routes for Summer 2027 in Major Network Expansion

Published by V.S. Journeys

The Leeds‑based leisure carrier Jet2 has announced a significant expansion of its summer 2027 schedule, adding 17 routes across its UK base network. The move includes the return of three services last flown in 2023, alongside 14 entirely new destinations. The expansion spans multiple airports and reflects the airline’s growing confidence in the leisure travel market.

A Broad Geographic Spread

The new routes connect seven UK airports – Birmingham, Manchester, London Stansted, London Gatwick, Edinburgh, Bristol, East Midlands, and Bournemouth – with destinations across France, Spain, Greece, Croatia, and the Channel Islands. Flights will roll out progressively between March and May 2027, operated by a mix of Boeing 737‑800 and Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Jet2’s summer 2027 programme strengthens its position as a dominant player in the UK leisure sector, adding capacity to short‑haul holiday hotspots while also venturing into city‑break markets and secondary regional airports.

Paris and Jersey: A Shift Towards City Breaks and Coastal Convenience

One of the standout features of the expansion is the focus on Paris Charles de Gaulle, which gains multi‑frequency services from Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands. This marks a clear departure from Jet2’s traditional beach‑holiday image, tapping into the fast‑growing city‑break market that has now surpassed pre‑pandemic demand levels.

Jersey in the Channel Islands is another big winner. The island will see new or increased services from Birmingham, Bristol, and Manchester, responding to rising demand for shorter, more convenient leisure trips. UK travellers are increasingly prioritising local departures and simpler airport experiences, and Jet2’s expanded Jersey programme – now covering six UK airports – caters directly to that trend.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, commented: “We are delighted to be significantly expanding our Jersey programme for Summer 2027, with a great choice of flights now departing from six UK airports as a result. Thanks to the addition of the new routes and the existing programme, we are offering a fantastic choice to Jersey.”

Greece and Croatia Take Centre Stage

Greece remains one of Jet2’s strongest markets, and the summer 2027 expansion adds further depth to an already extensive Greek network. New direct links include Chania on Crete, Skiathos, Mytilene on Lesbos, and Kavala – the latter serving as a gateway to the quieter island of Thassos. Unlike heavily commercialised destinations such as Santorini or Mykonos, Thassos appeals to travellers seeking tranquil beaches, hiking trails, and traditional village life. Interest in these “alternative Mediterranean” destinations has risen sharply since the pandemic.

Croatia also continues its rapid ascent. Jet2 will launch a new service between Edinburgh and Pula on the Istrian peninsula. Pula is known for its well‑preserved Roman amphitheatre, beautiful Adriatic coastline, and more affordable accommodation compared to Dubrovnik or Split. Croatian tourism authorities reported record arrivals in 2025, with UK visitors leading the way.

Aircraft Strategy and Fleet Modernisation

Jet2 is deploying two aircraft types across the new routes. The Boeing 737‑800 handles the majority of short and medium‑haul leisure services, while the Airbus A321neo operates the Edinburgh‑Pula, Edinburgh‑Skiathos, and London Gatwick‑Mytilene routes. The A321neo offers higher capacity and improved fuel efficiency, supporting the carrier’s ongoing fleet modernisation programme.

Confidence Amid Industry Pressures

The scale of the summer 2027 rollout is notable given the wider challenges facing European aviation, including aircraft delivery delays and operational constraints. Yet Jet2 continues to expand steadily, underpinned by strong holiday package sales and consistent passenger demand across regional markets.

Financially, the airline has been outperforming many rivals. Jet2 plc recently reported group revenue of approximately £7.17 billion for the fiscal year ending March 2025, a 14.7% increase from the previous year. Package holiday bookings have remained ahead of expectations for multiple consecutive seasons. Analysts point to the company’s vertically integrated model – combining flights, hotels, transfers, and package holidays – as a key reason for its resilience.

What This Means for Travellers

For UK passengers, the practical impact is clear: more direct flights, fewer airport transfers, and a broader selection of destinations outside the usual tourist hotspots. Instead of concentrating solely on established resort routes, Jet2 is diversifying into niche leisure markets and secondary European airports, giving travellers access to places that previously required multiple connections or seasonal charter availability.

With the summer 2027 schedule now taking shape, Jet2 is betting heavily on convenience‑driven travel patterns that have accelerated across the UK market since 2022 – and the 17 new routes suggest that bet is only getting bigger.
